For Sponsors FAQs
Transition to Alerus
Why was Alerus selected as the new service provider for recordkeeping and administration?
Alerus shares the same customer-first philosophy as Fulton Financial Advisors and is an industry leader in recordkeeping and administration services. Fulton Financial Advisors chose to partner with Alerus because we provide technology solutions to benefit you and your plan participants while maintaining the high level of client service you have come to expect.
Your Fulton retirement services relationship manager will not change, and Fulton Financial Advisors will continue serving as your investment manager and trustee. Alerus will provide you with recordkeeping and administration services, including an upgraded online experience and dedicated mobile app.
Fees
Will fees change?
No. Fees for your plan will remain the same.
Contacts and Service
Who should I contact with questions or for additional support?
Your Fulton relationship manager will remain your primary contact. You’ll also have a dedicated Alerus service team for recordkeeping and administration support.
Will I still work with the same people at Fulton Financial Advisors?
Yes. Your Fulton retirement services relationship manager will remain your primary contact for plan design, best practices, and investments. Fulton Financial Advisors will continue serving as your investment manager and trustee.
You will be paired with an Alerus account manager who will help with your recordkeeping and administration needs, so you will also interact with the Alerus team.
Will my service level change?
No. You’ll receive the same level of service, plus enhanced online and mobile tools. Alerus offers:
- Dedicated sponsor and participant website
- Mobile app with transactional capabilities for participants
- Enhanced financial planning tools and education
Investments

Yes. Your fund line-up will not change, and you’ll continue to have access to a wide variety of mutual fund families.
Agreements
Will any agreements, such as the trust/custody or administrative services agreements change?
Fulton Financial Advisors will remain your trustee and investment manager. Because Alerus will provide plan administration, you will receive updated agreements to reassign that responsibility.
Transition and Blackout Period
Is there a blackout period when transactions cannot be processed?
Yes. During the blackout period, account access will be unavailable while your plan moves to the new platform. We expect the blackout period to begin at 4 p.m. ET on January 28, 2026, and end no later than 11:59 p.m. ET February 3, 2026. We anticipate account access will be available on the new site no later than February 4, 2026.
When will the recordkeeping transition happen?
Plans will transition to Alerus’ recordkeeping platform during a blackout period which we expect to begin at 4 p.m. ET on January 28, 2026, and end no later than 11:59 p.m. ET February 3, 2026. We will provide additional guidance before the transition, and a blackout notice will be sent to all plan participants. We will notify you and your plan participants when you are able to access your account on or after February 3, 2026.
Will we lose money when assets are transferred to the new platform?
No. Plan assets will remain fully invested based on current elections. Assets will be transferred in-kind, which means the funds will not be liquidated and repurchased.

Loans
How should loan payments be collected?
Continue collecting loan payments as usual.
To ensure loan payments are processed accurately:
- Exact payments.Match loan payments to the amortization schedule. If an employee’s pay does not cover the loan payment, note the amount in the “Are there exceptions?” section of the funding page.
- Missed payments.Submit missed loan payments in the amount that matches the amortization schedule. Example: If doubling a payment of $115.42, the amount remitted should be $230.84.
- Loan payoffs. If your payroll file includes a loan payoff, include the participant’s name and loan number in the “Are there exceptions?” section.
- Loan overpayments. If a loan payment is received after the loan is paid off, Alerus will mail a check to the participant’s address on file.
Multiple loan payments. If your plan allows multiple loans, remit payments in one column, ensuring totals match each loan’s scheduled amount. Any variation in loan repayment amounts may delay payroll processing. Note: If you would like to simplify loan payment reporting for participants with multiple loans, please contact your Fulton representative to discuss options.
